Promoting Your Dental Practice In A Slow Economy

slow economyLet’s face it.  Promoting your dental practice is not always easy to do.  Especially in this slow economy. There are some areas that may suffer worse than others, but keep in mind, it is still possible to keep your business going. An article written by Howie Horrocks and Mark Dilatush of New Patients Inc. gives some advice on how to promote your practice in a slow economy.

Some dental practice types may feel the effects of a slow economy more than others. Cosmetic dentists may see more slowing because most people consider that type of dental work extra. But there are still some things you can do.  One thing is to pay more attention to your existing patient base. Now is the time to communicate with your existing patients and promote services to them.

Another thing to do when promoting your practice in hard times is to use the method that has been proven to work best in the past.  Whatever method this is, be sure to start changing the design to be more family oriented and pointed at ways of savings.   Also be sure to include all the services you offer.  If you are known for sedation dentistry, run your ads to also show all the other services your practice provides.  You don’t want to patients to think you are only able to offer the one thing.

Lastly, you need to be patient. This is probably the toughest part of a slow economy. Being impatient may cause you to make horrible decisions on where to apply the marketing budget.  This is not the best thing to do in a slowing economy.
